Congratulations! You are now a proud owner of a MMJ medical card. Things can be a little overwhelming right now (trust us, we know!), but there’s no need to be.

You went through all the avenues to get your MMJ card, but now you’re wondering to yourself:

  • What dispensary is right for me?
  • What should I expect with prices, quality and product?
  • Is “dispensary life” for me?

Its okay to have questions!

I am here to guide you down the right road and ease your fears.

What Should I Expect from a Dispensary Experience?

First, you’ll notice that each dispensary features a different experience for their patients.

What do I mean by experience?

Each location could (and likely will) have a vast amount of differences for their MMJ patients.

Most importantly, they differ on:

  • Pricing,
  • Selection,
  • Atmosphere,
  • Location,
  • Aesthetic, and
  • Quality of Education.

The best advice I could give you is to: think of a dispensary like a retail location.

Do you shop at some stores vs. others? Why is that?

Even more, do you want a quick and easy process? How about a slower, more intimate shopping experience?

Chances are you form you life around spaces that make you feel comfortable.

It’s no different at a medical marijuana dispensary!

Every dispensary is different. Each one will have a specific focus on different aspects of the cannabis experience. Expect to try multiple ones before finding the right fit.

The dispensary location should be exciting for you. If you feel anxious before going every time, it’s not you: It’s the dispensary’s fault.

Find a location that values the quality of their product selection and doesn’t make you feel like a number. I understand that this is America, with legalization dispensaries are popping up left and right.

That being said, this is a medication and should be treated as an educational experience, not just a much as a profit for a business.

I do not want my experience to be ruined by being up-sold on products that won’t even match my needs.

This leads to my next point:

Create Your Dispensary “Grocery” List Before Going In

Next, you want to make sure you have an idea of what you’re walking in to.

Now, you don’t need to research every brand in the area (chances are you won’t even get half way!)

My advice would be to have a idea on the problems you need to be treated & the effects that would benefit your life!

Don’t make the same mistake I did:

I went into my first dispensary not knowing a single thing about cannabis (I couldn’t even tell you what concentrate was).

When I entered the location I was greeted with something out of this world.

However, I must have looked very lost and nervous; the moment I walked in I was rushed to the sales floor and was shown some very beautiful (but extremely over priced) items.

Furthermore, I was so overwhelmed with the experience that I didn’t even realize I was being overcharged  for 1/2oz of flower and 3 cartridges (that’s a total of ~$300 ladies and gentlemen).

That would have been fine, but I also walked out not knowing what strains I got or what their effects would be.

Now, don’t let me scare you out of the experience. I’m just saying if you feel overwhelmed (and the shop isn’t doing anything to help), leave! You deserve a dispensary that values education.

You get out of it what you put into it. Go in with good vibes and (hopefully) get some goods in return!
